Fort William. Getting to the business end. Saturday Qualifying.

Fort William. Getting to the business end. Saturday Qualifying.

Well that’s a relief. After some fairly heavy schedule changes, that included opening the gondola at 6.30 am for practice in case of the forecasted storms closing in. All riders had to be at the top by 10 am, which led to some long warm ups and perhaps some over contemplation for a few. Either way the rain held off and we had a dry qualifying. The Brits faired well with Danny Hart, Gee Atherton, Matt Simmonds and Mike Jones […]

Scottish Downhill Association Round 3 – Ae Forest

Scottish Downhill Association Round 3 – Ae Forest

I have attended 6 races in 2014 prior to the 3rd round of the Scottish Downhill Association race series. All of them without fail have been wet to a certain degree. Now riding in the wet is immense fun but over time this gets a little tiresome as you have to deal with wet shoes and filthy kit. The bikes certainly don’t love getting frequently blasted with high pressure water either so I was desperate for a dry race. Ae […]

SDA Rd1 Innerleithen

SDA Rd1 Innerleithen

The first race of the year is always an exciting one. You get to test out your new bikes and freshly trained bodies against the clock. Are you up to scratch or are you hanging out the back? Everyone wants to know which may explain the maxed out entry of 320 and high level of riders attending. A few weeks before the race the SDA announced they would be using the “freeride” style track Make or Brake which stirred up a […]

Livigno: The return of the knights

Livigno: The return of the knights

Short but intense! That’s how you could best describe a summer season in the top Italian bike resort, Livigno. 2013 was indeed intense: after a spectacular show by Danny MacAskill at the Riva bike festival, presented by Livigno Feel the Alps, and a gourmet bike tour in the Alta Rezia region, Livigno ended its season with the spectacular event – the FIAT Nine Knights contest. Livigno’s absolute season highlight was definitively the FIAT Nine Knights: this top-class event was held […]

North West Downhill Series Round 1

North West Downhill Series Round 1

It had been 6 months since the last race at Farmer Johns in Marple, the venue is well used by local members. John had been hard at work since we last saw him in September, he has made a new race line with brand new features whilst doing this he has been maintaining other parts of the track to keep the Locals happy. Pulling into farmer johns i saw a abundance of tents, despite the cold weather some were keen […]

Borderline Events Race Rd1 Innerleithen

Borderline Events Race Rd1 Innerleithen

Mike Marsden’s Borderline Events team rocked up to Innerleithen at the weekend to host the first DH race of the year here, this is the first of 6 races Mike’s putting on this year.  Being held here in the winter is always a bit of a hit or miss as the weather can be cruel – but this week couldn’t have been kinder dry with a touch of frost had the hill in prime condition for a race. Track for […]

Innerduro Series 2013 Rd1

Innerduro Series 2013 – Round 1 – 50 Shades of Mud The first round of the Alpine Bikes sponsored 2013 Innerduro Series took place over the weekend of 2nd/3rd February. The event, organised by Innerleithen MTB Racing, was completely sold out weeks in advance as some of the best Enduro riders from across the country descended on Forestry Commission Scotland’s 7stanes Innerleithen mountain bike trails at Traquair Forest for this exciting style of mountain bike racing. Riders followed a course […]
