Certainly unlucky, he meets the BC criteria for being considered, presumably a DNF and a non qualification in Leogang and Champery have counted against him.

It's good having a change of riders in the worlds team. They can't choose everyone. Anyway, simmonds and smith have just as good a chance of doing well as josh. Give them a chance!

I know they are good riders but I just dont see them getting a result as good as josh any hoo

Look at www.rootsandrain.co.uk and compare Josh's results against some of the others.  I think his omission from the squad is unfair and I would like someone from BC to comment why he was not included.  I know RC is a great rider, ex junior world champ and probably well known to a few on here but I think JB should have been in the squad over him.  Or why can't both be accommodated - whats the squad limit?

Now before anyone says JB is a party boy or whatever and says I dont know what I'm on about look at the results for both riders:

Josh, by his standards may have had an average season but look how consistently good his results are - and look at the MSA results of 08 & 09.  I'll say it again Josh being left out is unfair to the lad.

I don't know Matt's having a pretty good year and Joe is pushing hard too, maybe it's time to give a few riders a chance to step up and see if they can do it.  Chuffed to see Roy in there but I was a bit surprised to see him included over Josh but hey it's the BC's choice, if it were down to me Jess Stone should be there too.

While perusing another site i came across the Canadian team for the worlds, the put ours to shame IMO not because of the quality of riders ( no disrespect to the selected riders) but because of the numbers they're sending. 7 Senior Men, 7 Senior Women, 7 Junior Men and 2 Junior Women, thats 23 riders in total vs. the UK's 15. Dave Braillesford in his capacity as the face of BC harps on about the strength and depth of talent in mountain biking, making it clear he's encompassing all 3 disciplines, and yet they cant (wont?) budget to include a full quota of riders. They're aint no shortage of cash in the BC coffers at the moment, cycling is on the up and the UK is a dominant force in DH so why oh why not demonstrate that dominance by sending a full team.

Nice one canada, your team shows your support of your riders and of the world champs in your back yard.

British Cycling spends all its money on the Sky road team. They cut the budget of the mountain bike youth talent team in scotland and other things to get more money for the sky team
