Would certainly liven things up a bit Does this mean you can enter as long as you are on a UCI team, even if you don't have the required points?

Doesn't it cost a ton of cash to be an official UCI MTB team? (like about £3/4000 a year) And you wouldn't affiliate with the UCI if your riders weren't world class anyway. So it won't change that much will it?
(thats not meant to sound sarcy and know-it-all, I'm just curious)

Say its 4k, that gets 10 riders in...only 400 each for a season...not cheap, but affordable...

yes but if you're a UCI trade team, you get free pits at the WCs, so it does save a shed load of cash.

well yes if BC were being nice, then yes they could register a development team - of riders who currently don't have UCI points. So they could race. There are plenty of really good riders in this country without 20 points. its a joke really cos they have changed it without 12 months notice. We've agreed sponsorship deals with people / companies and riders based on the fact that they would be racing world cups. All signed sealed and sorted and then this happens. I might have to be shelling out for a UCI trade team status at this rate. but I'm sure its not as much as Trig mentioned.

the loop hole may have been foiled by british cycling, they are not gonna enter any rider who is outside the top 10 elite or top 5experts, downer

Just doing the sums:
1000 Euro's for affiliation which is about £660
10 riders in a team Thats £66 per team rider - to be allowed entry into any WC
Hah! Thats pretty funny, but I think Oggy's probably right (Kill-Joy!)

Not sure how that would work though? British Cycling don't enter riders from UCI teams. You have to enter youself online.

That's true. But only once at the start of the year on application to UCI, not before every round.
