I ordered the gold bit for the Saint through the LBS, I think they were due in around the 10th of this month. I also did away with the washer behind the gold bit and it's solved the play in the mech, it was getting real sloppy and that's tightened it up nicely.

Lovin' the XTR shifters though, got them on my XC and DH bikes, that double shift is pure dead brilliant!

Sorry for the thread hijack. That bike is sweet looking. Are those tyres the black chilli compound (or what ever the grippy tyres are) If so are they any nice?

Yeh sorry about the hijack. Looks like a nice bike mate, get the -1 degree slackner sleeve for the headtube though, you won't regret it.

I dont mind thread hijacking, its all good when folks ask questions and others answer even if it does go OT.

If im being honest i dont know if the tyres contain the black chilli compound, it doesnt say so on the box or tyre. The Continental website does say that the Mountain King is one of the tyres that contains the compound. What i do know is that i love them as a trail centre tyre. Ive got them on my Bullit front and rear but wanted something a little faster rolling on the back of the Meta hence the Crossmark on the rear. Ive never had the Mountain Kings in sloppy mud so couldnt say how they handle.

A quick update :-

Had the bike out locally and then again in Glentress, to sum it up "awsome" and the fact i didn't get cramp after the usual 3-4 hours cycling and i wanted to do the whole red run again after completing it speaks volumes. I'm normally ready for the off after a good day on the hills but i was left wanting more and feeling quite fresh. Uphill with the pro pedal switched "on" the RP23 and the Pikes locked out i did the whole uphill from car park to Spooky woods in one go, with a quick hour in the freeride park in between. Downhill is probably the quickest Ive descended with the most amount of fun Ive had.

Theres tons of work being done in the Glentress with the car park starting to look like a well trimmed out of town shopping centre and some of the trails have been re surfaced and are like a BMX track in places. Had a couple of "moments" with a combination of faster descending, smooth tracks and lips being redone on some jumps. More air than im used to brought a couple of girl like screams, good job the place was quiet enough so as not to have attracted unwanted attention :D.

All in all worth every penny.

Oh and I'm definitely getting a chainguide now  ;D.

I'm now trying to convince the wife that 4" is plenty, fnar fnar  ;).

what size frames are owners of meta 4x using in relation to body height?

I'm 6 foot and run a long for trail centre use with a 410mm post.  It's brilliant except you cant put the saddle down all the way due to a kink in the downtube - which clears the swingarm.  I've got a shorter post for hitting up jump spots.

To the O.P - very nice build - however watch what chainguide you order as its difficult to get one to clear the main pivot.  So far i've tried Blackspire NSX and a Ethirteen SS and neither fitted.  Over at the commencal forums they reccomend a Gamut or Ethirteen LG1+.

A couple of days after the original picture was taken i fitted an e13 LG1+. Ive also got a KSi900 adjustable seatpost so the seat can go all the way down while pointing the bike downhill or raise the beast on the ups, my best bike buy for a long time IMO.
