Alwinton?
« on: May 06, 2010, 09:03:16 PM »
What's this like then, any pics/vids?

How does it compare to Kidland?

Is this the hill there was talk of last year on the other side of Kidland that was steeper for longer?

Questions questions!

Well well well you ll have to just wait and see!  The hill is bigger and has a more consistently steep pitch the whole way with a few small cliff bands for some nice big drops.  This track as with Kidland will only be for the competant rider who likes it steep and tech.  It should also prove to have a lot more speed than Kidland!

The only way you can see the track and have access to ride it before the event is to volunteer to help construction.

If you want to volunteer to help please email your details to info@northerndownhill.co.uk.  dig weekends will be 22/23 and 29/30 of May.

More info will follow on the NDH site in the next few days.

PLEASE REMEMBER THIS NEW TRACK ALONG WITH THE ORIGINAL TRACK ARE ONLY FOR ACCESS AT OFFICIALLY SANCTIONED TIMES.  WE WILL BE ALLOWED ACCESS TO THIS TRACK FOR RECREATION ON PERMITTED WEEKENDS.  IF THE HILL IS USED OUTSIDE OF THESE SANCTIONED TIMES THE PERMISSION FOR ACCESS WILL BE REVOKED AND THE TRACK TRASHED.

cheers Carl

Do you think this is the way forward? My lad is looking at racing but not too sure now I've read that description, he's first year Juvenile. Looking at your last race you only had one Juvenile?

ooooooh just had a few runs on the new track today  and it is well tasty.  theres some more work to do following todays installation laps.  The top is steeeeep and rocky and the bottom is faaaaaaaaaast and loooooooooooose.  had so much fun.  Can t wait to get the upgrades done so a full sesh can be had.  Thanks to those of you who actually volunteered to help out your efforts are greatly appreciated.

REMEBER RACE  AND EVENT ONLY. PLEASE DON T TRY AND SCOPE THE TRACK OUT.  WE HAVE LTD ACCESS TO THE HILL AND ANY UNAUTHORISED ACCESS WILL RESULT IN THE TRACK BEING CLOSED.  THE EYES OF THE HILL THAT WOULD RATHER WE HAD A TRACK SOMEWHERE ELSE WILL USE ANY MEANS TO HAVE ACCESS DENIED SO PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STAY AWAY UNLESS ATTENDING AN ORGANISED ACCESS DAY.

Hi
just wondering what the parking situation is at alwinton, is it suitable for motorhomes?
thanks,Jack
Although previous rounds we have allowed some access for motorhomes and caravans and the camping field we are now racing the private forest who insist no overnight camping or parking at all in the forest. Carl is negotiating the use of the field at one of the local pubs 2 mile away. Im sure there will be details up as and when its sorted out.

Just a quick update for the weekend!
Directions can be found from northerndownhill.co.uk
Daytime parking will be in the usual spot and the track will be directed to you from here.
Caravan and camping will in the last farmers field on the right before you get to the forest where toilets and a skip will be located.
Don't try to camp/park up further into the forest as you will be asked to move and don't worry because the uplift will not be too far from the camping.
Theres no fires allowed in the forest or farmers field.
Keep dogs on a lead and under control remember you are in a open field with sheep.
Don't wash your bikes in the stream or pollute the stream in any way! This may seem anal but its down to the streams being SSSI and at the end of the day its the land owners wish.
Theres a neighbouring land owner who is far from pleased that we will be using the forest and I am certain will be on the look out for rules being broken which could ultimately have us banned from the forrest. We have had a video camera pointed at us on a couple of occasions if this happens please stay calm and don't be abusive. At the end of the day we have all the permission required to be in the forrest and we need to earn the respect of the land owner and the nieghbour.
Don't litter this includes cut cable ties and tear offs. Its simple really leave the place as you found it.
Dont go exploring the forrest especially up the uplift track.
The Rose and Thistle pub will not be able to provide food on Saturday as they have prior commitments however they are open for drinks as usual. Food is available at Clennell Hall.
We hope you enjoy the new track we think its going to be worth it.
Look out for future uplift days which we will be advertising in the coming weeks.
Thanks Phil

I am told that there wont be a burger van on site over the weekend.
We will be calling in at a cash and carry to get what we can to sell on.

Fantastic uplift service the other weekend at Alwinton. 10 runs done and most of them I got down clean. They have kept all the interesting bits but just banked up a couple of corners to give them a little more support where people where sliding down the hill. Lets give these guys more support, brilliant tracks and trailers that don't harm your bikes. I'll be doing them all.
Thanks for that Lazerbeam!
There are 8 booked on for this Saturday and Sunday, so a few spaces left if anyone wants to join us email info@northerndownhill.co.uk
Thanks Phil
