David “Tally” Tallontire

Anybody who’s seriously into their mountain biking wither it be XC, Enduroing or DH will know that man “Tally” who does the Uplifts at Inners and Ae Forest. Uplift Scotland has been working hard over the last few years with the FC to get a good uplift service in place at these 2 venues – and will continue to do so in the years to come (well until the Chairlift goes in at Inners that is 🙂 ) And if […]

Diva Descent

Diva Descent, the UK’s first all-girls downhill mountain bike race is to be held at Kinnoull Hill, Perth, Scotland on the 7th-8th May 2011. The purpose of the event is to introduce more female riders into downhill racing and to provide them with the opportunity to compete, under authentic race conditions, in an all-girl environment.  Diva Descent was inspired by the success of other all-girl events in the UK, such as ‘Air Maiden.’ The weekend consists of a day of […]

AlpineBikes Winter Race Rd2

The second round of the Innerleithen Winter race series run by Mike Marsden’s Borderline-Events and AlpineBikes was held in what you could call Spring like conditions, gone was the horrible wet muddy hillside of round one. This weekend saw the riders treated to a race on the Gold Run with a few little sections thrown in and bits taped a bit wider for a choice of line. The section that threw a few riders was the bottom part as you […]

A Year With The Trek Remedy

It’s fair to say we are fans of Trek Remedy’s here at Descent-World, I’m on my second, and Gaz traded his Intense in for one earlier in the year. It’s about a year since I took delivery of the Remedy so it’s seen a fair amount of mileage under its wheels. So what changed from the Remedy of old? The introduction of the Scratch into the line-up allowed Trek to focus the Remedy as a long travel trail bike, rear […]

Innerleithen MTB Racing’s Mini DH

Following on from the first round of the Winter DH race last weekend, this race was orginized by local Innerleithen MTB Racing and I-Cycles is a pure old school, pushup to the start and have as many runs as you like. One thing it did have in common was the weather conditions were pretty much the same. I thought about using a quote from Hodge for the whole report as it sums it up pretty well – mud, rain, mud, […]

Rd1 Alpinebikes Winter DH Race

The downhill race scene kicked off in Innerleithen with the first round of the Alpinebikes winter race. The weather running up to this weekend was somewhat wet and windy, especially Friday night. The car park area at the bottom of the hill was 2/3rds underwater Saturday morning so the finish area was unusable.  Remember when this race used to be called the Winter Wet n Wild, very apt for this round anyway. Saturdays practice was the usual stop start checking […]
