The new Orange Alpine 160 – Yorkshire born, Alps bred.

The new Orange Alpine 160 – Yorkshire born, Alps bred.

The Alpine 160 is our no-nonsense take on a bike designed to be ridden and raced on the most brutally demanding trails in the world, so we make no apologies for putting reliability, rider control and predictable suspension performance top of our list when it came to designing it. We’re not interested in making a bike that will only last a week of uplifts, we’re interested in making a bike that will last season after season, all the while delivering […]

SDA Scottish Championships Glencoe

SDA Scottish Championships Glencoe

The red route isn’t a downhill track, it’s for cross country bikes isn’t it? Well I have 2 smashed wheels and a massive smile on my face that would disagree with you. Glencoe is famous for it’s insanely difficult black route. The Scottish Champs was raced on that track back in a wet 2009 and Ben Cathro clinched his only Scottish Champions title on that weekend. Since then lots of rain and snow melt has eroded the black into a […]

Leogang WC preview with Claudio and Longden.

Claudio and Will ” the thrill” Longden put down their managerial roles and take you down Leogang WC track. It might be one of the easiest tracks ever seen on the WC circuit but this videos shows that it can still go wrong…….Hope you’re ok Will!

Fort William World Cup Finals – A new club member.

Ossssha bugger is a phrase my Grandad used to use with frequency when he saw Vatanen, Clark and others of the BDA era pushing on through the confines of pudershaw. Had he been at Fort William yesterday he’d have been lost for words. A top three made up of Brosnan, Hill and Hart was not the prescription ordered, but what a remedy to spark some life into the series. The first two rounds were exciting, this was electric. We’d already […]

Troy Brosnan takes his first World Cup win, in front of a resurgent Sam Hill closely followed by Danny Hart, Aaron Gwin and Gee Atherton. In a Womens race opened up by mechanicals, Emmilene Ragot took the win from Myriam Nicole and Tracy Hannah. Martin Maes took the junior win to send a signal out to the other junior men. Could a part time Dh’r be a potential World Champion….? Full race day photo story to follow later on.

Fort William. Getting to the business end. Saturday Qualifying.

Well that’s a relief. After some fairly heavy schedule changes, that included opening the gondola at 6.30 am for practice in case of the forecasted storms closing in. All riders had to be at the top by 10 am, which led to some long warm ups and perhaps some over contemplation for a few. Either way the rain held off and we had a dry qualifying. The Brits faired well with Danny Hart, Gee Atherton, Matt Simmonds and Mike Jones […]

Fort William WC Friday – Bumper photo show.

That’s Friday done and dusted for the DH crew – 4x is currently underway but we’re sat here in the media room trying to bring you the goods from what was undoubtedly a day of two halves. Mist, fog and a saturated Aonach Mor greeted the riders this morning, but by timed training the sun was firmly beating down on the strangely smooth whindust tramlines up top. We all know timed training counts for nothing, but it does reflect what […]

Fort William World Cup – Late starts, early beginnings.

Fort William World Cup – Late starts, early beginnings.

What a couple of weeks for the humble bicycle in Britain, the EWS last week was a resounding success and some serious credit must go to the TweedLove team, and Chris Ball and his team from the EWS. As we keep being told, there are no disciplines in mountain biking – but for racers there are and this week it’s the turn of the downhill fraternity to take centre stage. What more can be said about the Fort William WC? […]
