SDA DH Rd 2, Glencoe

Over the years Glencoe has had a hard time staying open due to bad winters, to you and I that’s not the same “bad winters”, to the Ski centre it means the lack of snow.  It was 4 years ago that the SDA in their hunt for new venues approached the centre to see if it would be possible to build a track there. The centre was taken over in a management buy out in 2007 and things were looking […]

World Cup 2010: Maribor Day 4 – Finals

Jacob brings us the shots from the final day of Maribor, it was one of the biggest World Cup mudfests ever seen. Minnaar took the men’s final and Rachel Atherton did us proud with the ladies. [nggallery id=18]

Jacob Gibbins is out in Maribor just now, covering the world cup for descent-world. Here’s his first taster for us all in 2010, keep an eye out over the next few days for JG’s updates. [nggallery id=15]

Avalanche Enduro – Ae Forest

Spring is in full swing with summer just peeking her eyes around the corner. Olivia and the rest of the Avalanche team made their now annual trip over for the UK Avalanche Enduro. A race they’ve been running here at various venues for the past four years, each year tweaking the format and style of race stage slightly to produce a better, more rounded race format. Clive Forth If you’ve had your head buried in the sand for the last […]

BDS Rd2, Fort William

The second round of the 2010 Halo British DH Series stormed into Fort William over the weekend bringing with it the sunshine that they had in Rd1 at Rheola, could this be an omen for the rest of the season, hope so. Having had so much snow over the winter I was wondering how much was still going to be their and how much time they would’ve had to repair the track. Well the diggers were still there on Thursday […]

Northern Downhill Round 2, Hamsterley

Anyone who has raced at Hamsterley will know it’s a cracking venue, with any number of track combinations. However the logistics are slightly more complex, with the parking at the top, the cabin in the middle and the finish and uplift at the bottom. With more than one focal point the spectators and riders would be spread all over the hill. Time to try something different. The pits set up at the bottom really does make sense and there was […]

SDA DH Rd 1, Pitfichie

The weekend of the 24th – 25th of April saw the first round of the 2010 Scottish Downhill Association race at Pitfichie, North of the Granite City, Aberdeen. The track lives up to the name of the nearby city, with the majority of the track made from slabs of Granite. The track was mostly the same layout as previous years with some minor additional sections added for some variation, which by the end of practise had worn in nicely. Wet […]

Halo BDS Rd 1 Rheola, Wales

The UK season finally got officially under-way this past weekend in South Wales. Rheola Forest, has hosted so many races it’s a bit of legend in these parts, mostly due to the fact that Jason Carpenter and his Dragon Downhill Series used this venue so many times you could almost call it the Welsh Innerleithen. This time however, it was the re-branded National Points Series for 2010…The Halo British Downhill Series. With sponsors tripping over themselves to get involved, it […]

Northern Downhill Round 1 Kidland Forest

This time last year I was stressed, ran ragged as the co organiser of Northern Downhill. This year Carl will be race series organiser and I will be a lot more relaxed on the bike. Snow came to Northumberland mid December and only thawed from the valley 3 weeks ago, to Carl’s relief! How ever when the snow returned early in the week we started praying for the thaw. Our prayers where answered for a short while with the warmer […]
