"The President of Yamaha has spoken of the shock felt within the company at the death of long-time rider Norick Abe in a road traffic accident in Japan.
Former works Grand Prix and World Superbike star Abe died in hospital yesterday evening from injuries sustained when he collided with a lorry in Kawasaki City.
Reports say the truck performed an illegal U-turn in front of Abe, who was unable to take avoiding action. He was riding a 500cc scooter at the time of the accident.

No more info for now, but I'll be doing a full write up for the Home page soon, including the comments of one of my workmates who's swiping it from me for a weekend - just have to see how well it lasts on the trail

So,

Haribo are giving away a load of replica Tour de France yellow jerseys, for freeeee:

The human mind can be an incredible thing. Check this guy out. It's about 5 minutes long so put the kettle on, make a brew and stick your headphones in.

Freeze Scotland have just opened a new fashion outlet on Hanover Street in Edinburgh [ the old whitestuff premises i think ] , from what Neil is telling me it has loads of cool kit and is well worth a look...
tell him i sent you and maybe get a discount.

Eye magazines article on the bicing service in Barcelona

Why can't this country [Scotland] be so forward thinking when it comes to solving congestion, pollution, parking, fat bastard-itis, lazyness etc... Just think of the cost of implimenting this in Edinburgh compared to the Trams !

Read on and be amazed at how a simple idea can be so effective...

Now,

In today's world, there are a number of important questions we must ask - How will global warming affect me? Do I eat too much salt? Am I dead inside if I feel nothing after hitting a rabbit in my car?

But more importantly than any of that, the question we should all be asking relates to the new Apple iPhone - specifically - WILL IT BLEND?!

'A beginners guide to giving a damn about climate change'

By our friends over at Airside and Mother. This piece of animation is great on so many levels.

Or rather Bestwick...and Maritnez. Another big name dips into BMX again, would be nice if that interest would slide in over to our direction, slip into a pair.

I'm not one for the lads mags but Esquire is the one mag that if i get half a chance i'll read.

The photography is consistently great and the editor doesn't treat the readers as numbskull lager drinking, football(soccer) loving, corsa drivers...

Yes there are picture of women in there but also some genuinely interesting and engaging content.

Well after slating the wonders of inexpensive bikes and alluding to the fact that Catherines new bike would be a heavyweight I sit corrected

Through the wonders of the ride to work scheme operated by our employers (you can see further details on the forum @ www.descent-world.co.uk where discussions have been had.) She is now the proud owner of a Carerra Vulcan

Now I was scheptical about the virtuues of a bike that cost less than my last set of wheels but it's perfect for what we need.

No pics but the rain today has been wicked. Just in time for Catherine to buy her new bike and us to get soaked at the weekend testing it!

Wish me luck as I'm going to be riding the DH spec bullitt and she'll be on an XC bike that'll weigh just about the same!

Roll on October when I can get mine!

I seen this thread on a Car detailing website recently and I'd thought I'd share it...don't get me wrong I love classic cars but is this a step too far?

What do you do when a fan is giving you a bit of abuse lap after lap? Chucking a bit of mud, beer and insults about your mother? Give him a swift karate kick to the chest and continue on to win the race!
Very Cross
