Yesterday was WWDC day, or the day that Mac geeks get their knickers in a twist over what big Steve is going to announce in his Keynote speech.
As well as the OS (leopard) and iPhone announcements Apple released a beta of Safari for the PC.
This is a big deal...
Apple claims Blazing performance. Safari loads pages up to 2 times faster than Internet Explorer 7 and up to 1.6 times faster than Firefox 2. And it executes JavaScript up to 2.8 times faster than Internet Explorer 7 and up to 1.6 times faster than Firefox 2. From what i can see they are right. It's very quick, faster even than Opera at executing Javascript
The interface is as expected, sleek and intuitive, with some nice little touches, like tearing tabs off to create new pages. Cool.
The usual things we have come to expect from a modern browser are there and all seem to work well, Auto forms, RSS, Easy peasy bookmarking and Ad/Popup blocking.
There have been a couple of bugs, and holes but since this is a beta we can't complain.
All in it's very good and Microsoft should be very afraid, IE7 is about 4 years behind in speed terms and is so full of holes it's going to be patch Tuesday for a long time to come.
It looks like my list of browsers to test new sites in has just grown. Groan ;>)

Using Safari on my PC at the moment... very nice. A few glitches, as you say, but it's very nice to use, and does feel quick.
