What's that feeling? That tingling? It can't be. It is! My toes. Finally some feeling, some blood flow. I thought the old tarsals had had it for sure.
I suppose you're sitting there thinking 'what the hell's he talking about?!'. But those of you who witnessed the recent snow will have an idea. Those who tried riding in it will have a good idea. And those who got out, put the hours in the saddle over a 3 day camp will sympathise completely.
So, it was in the paper today but it all happened in Thursday. Bow tie on, combed the hair and off to the Hilton it was for the annual Scottish Sports Awards. Having been there last year with Rare for the event category, it was Ruaridh's hand I was holding this year. Free booze, sports stars, footballers wives and although football won a hell of a lot (even though they lost against Italy!?) made for a great evening. Of course, Ruaridh taking the Junior sports personality of the year award topped off a great night. That's my boy!
So, it's been a while I know. For any of you who actually noticed that I hadn't blogged since about 2004 I have tried, but after a really long, and I would add, great blog, I deleted it. Too much coffee? Maybe. Who really knows. I sure as hell don't know what happened.
Final days practice for us downhill lot today. Tomorrow's the big one, final round, medals to fight for and beer to drink at the after party. the final round of the XC happened today. I'm pretty sure it did because there was a super stoked dude on the PA shouting about something anyway. French dude won I think, I saw the Chinese bird whooping the rest in the womens too. That's about all I know. Well, paid attention to anyway.
End of day two. Loads of practice time here so riders were spread out right across the day making the track seem relatively quiet. Roots roots and more roots on almost every turn. Flowing turns are starting to blow out and 'that' rock garden is causing quite a lot of thought from everyone. I stood there for a while and no one took the same line. Not usual at this level. Fabien is looking fast, Brendog cased a quad in the woods that I didn't even realise was a quad. After his attempt, I still don't think it is...
Maribor. Eastern Europe. Not quite the same as a packed car park in Ft William but it's a damn sight sunnier over here and the food is way way cheaper. First day on the World Cup track today. Pretty quiet on all fronts really. Main point was meeting Greg in his sling. What a man. 4th last weekend and here he is with a bust shoulderblade. Pure Gnarr that is.
Ruaridh still seems, as you'd expect, on cloud 9. A couple of practice runs with him today and all was mellow. In fact, I was, he was pulling my pants down. To be expected I suppose... Rainbow stripes aren't for slouches.
