Innerleithen MTB Mini DH Series Rd3
Over 100 young racers were entered into the last of the mini downhill series run by Innerleithen MTB and supported by I-Cycles, Grease Monkey Cycles and Tweeddale Sports Council. The track this weekend started with a bit the Gold run from the middle road then a sharp 180 degree turn on the pushup path, quick peddle along there into some twisty stuff down into a bit of the Cresta then another 180 turn down to a hard right into the arena through some greasy twisty stuff down the finish. Helen had asked folk as it was Halloween weekend to come in fancy dress to add to the fun side of the event, well not many riders did but there was a few marshalls who joined in the fun.
These events are old school pushups, no buses or lorries here this weekend just good old banter as you push up for another race run. There was an hour of practice before the timing was put into action which allowed for a couple practice runs for the energetic types. Looking at the timing sheets at the end of the day it would seem most people put in 4 – 5 race runs in over the 4 hours timed session in the afternoon, which isn’t bad going. There was a pump track set up courtesy of The Bike Track people running a 10 lap timed session for a prize at the end of the afternoon, it was won by some local Downhiller called Lewis Buchanan.

Pump Track was in full flow all afternoon, running 10 lap timed sessions for a prize at the end of the day.
Full results from the weekend will be available here at the Innerleithen MTB website, and all the photos from the day will be uploaded to Roots and Rain as per usual. Below are a few select shots from the day, enjoy.
