David “Tally” Tallontire

Anybody who’s seriously into their mountain biking wither it be XC, Enduroing or DH will know that man “Tally” who does the Uplifts at Inners and Ae Forest. Uplift Scotland has been working hard over the last few years with the FC to get a good uplift service in place at these 2 venues – and will continue to do so in the years to come (well until the Chairlift goes in at Inners that is :) ) And if that does go ahead hopefully Tally can be involved in some way.

Here’s a little about the man himself -

Name? David Tallontire (Tally)

Age? 38

Where do you live?
Dalbeattie Scotland

How long have you been riding for?
Mmmm a long time!! I’ve had an obsession since I was two, my dad raced motocross and my family was into the scene so I picked up on that and tried to imitate my Dad!

Riding achievements to date?
I’ve competed in bmx and motorcycle trials but not to a high level, then I found Downhill mountain biking and liked to go fast! I’ve been series winner at National and Scottish level, Scottish champ and I’ve had fun all the way!!

Who is Uplift Scotland?
We are a business that runs a bus/lorry uplift service at Innerleithen and mini bus/trailer service at Ae Forest.
Both venues have amazing downhill & freeride trails giving people the opportunity to ride both disciplines on the same day with no pushing.
How did Uplift Scotland begin?
I was sick of pushing my bike uphill, I wanted to create a really effective way of training in between races. There were plenty of other people in the same boat, so I started by hiring a lorry at Ae forest and eventually expanded to a coach and lorry service at both Innerleithen and Ae forest.

Who is riding for you this year?
Matt Scott and Bex Reilly will be racing downhill and Enduro, entering the SDAs, BDS and Gravity Enduro series. Bex will also be racing select world cups.
Andrew Young will be racing the Gravity Enduro Series, The Tour of Ben and other endurance events.

What are your plans for the team?
The team has come about from wanting to help riders achieve more. I will be helping local riders that have a passion for the sport; I think passion is more important than results at first. If you have the passion results will come.

Who is supporting the team in 2011?
I-cycles and Ian Linton Photography.

Apart from racing what is in store for Uplift Scotland this year?
We are supporting the Gravity Enduro Series this year. (www.ukgravityenduro.co.uk). We will also be running private uplift days using a Landover. Keep an eye out for more info on out website (www.upliftscotland.com) or Facebook. I will be rehashing the website too.

Any shout outs?
Yea I would like to thank Wendy for her unwavering support even with our expanding family. Steve at I-cycles, you keep the team rolling! Ian Linton for the use of some fantastic images. To Bex, Matt and Andrew, Keep it smooth guys! And to the Forestry commission, with out there support we would have nowhere to ride!!

Here’s a little video Tally put together for the other Uplift Scotland riders Bex Reilly and Matt Scott. Top man Tally has had a massive influence on Matt and Bex’s racing the past two years and with the business supporting the new Gravity Enduro Series this year, Uplift Scotland is set for the 2011 season.

This service is the biz. Highly efficient, cost effective and well run. Top,top marks and lets hope Tally does well for himself – he brings a lot to the sport and adds so much. Try it out,use the service and SUPPORT Innerleithen. If it works out with a chairlift down there with Tally involved that would just be tops! Fingers crossed!
