Mountain Biking – The Manual

It’s hard to write about a new book, which was written by someone whom you’ve shared the back of a cattle truck, getting uplift at Scottish DH races with for so many years but that’s exactly what I’m doing.

Who’d have thought that, the young lad from Temple near Edinburgh would one day be an author of probably one of the finest riders manual ever to be produced. Having known Chris for over 10 years, he knows I’d tell him if something was crap, he knows I’d give him hell if it wasn’t any good…so I can say that I’m glad he was feeling the pressure because it’s a bloody good read.

Chris has come along way, Scottish DH Coach (incl. Lew Buchanan, etc.), his own MTB coaching business “Dirtschool” and of course more recently, UCi Technical Delegate. He can add Author to that long list after the release of ‘Mountain Biking – The Manual”, a gravity centric look at how we ride, race and play on our bikes.

The book grabs you straight away with the quality of the layout and imagery, the list of contributors is so impressive it reads like a who’s who of the mountain bike world. The photos are from the best ‘togs as well, it just looks great….but what’s the content like.

Well I learnt a few different things, like how to double back flip and do a wheelie but for beginner, expert and pro alike there’s something to take home. It isn’t a pretty coffee table book…it’s a full on reference for what we all love to do. You’ll no doubt pick it up again and again and again.

Available everywhere…just get it.
