2011 Giant DH00 and DH01 models: Talk from the Village

Giant secured a primo spot to show off their new bikes and it was impossible not to get sucked in and have a look at their 2011 DH0x models.

There is no doubt that the bikes are good looking, the co-ordination of frame and components is extremely well thought out. Coordinating bash guards, hydraulic lines and shifter cables are nice touch’s which show an attention to detail, which can sometimes be lacking on other bikes. Even the Elixr brake adjusters on the DH01 were color matched blue, sharp for sure.

For all the DH models the frame is unchanged from 2010, maestro linkage with virtual pivot, Giant firmly believe that if it isn’t broken don’t try to fix it?

Component wise for 2011 Giant have partnered up with DT Swiss for wheels and Maxxis for rubber (a change from the Michelin shod bikes of 2010). Both the top line DH00 and it’s little brother, the DH01 will come shod with Minion DH tires in the 3C compound.

The DH 00 comes with a full Shimano Saint groupset, Fox suspension and EX500 wheels and while the DH01 shares the same wheelset it is specc’d with Sram drivetrain, Avid brakes and Rock Shox suspension.

At the front end Giant spec their own bar and stem combo but were very keen to point out the new in-house integrated stem. The stem only weighs a claimed 135gms and has plenty of front-to-back adjustability so riders can dial in their preferred cockpit reach. The stem will also be available as an after-market purchase if you want to spec the lightweight part on your own bike.

Out of the box weight for the bikes: Giant say 39lbs.

And what if it is broken?! Mine and several others have cracked in the same unexpected place.
