The sun was shining all day, and by the time qualifiers came round the clouds that were lingering this morning had disappeared, as a result the track is dry, loose and fast.
In the mens it was 2009 winner Greg Minnaar who took it from Blenkinsop and Cam Cole who is on a stormer this season. Aaron Gwinn got 4th and Matti Lehikoinen in 5th. Top Brit was Gee in 6th with Marc Beaumont the only other UK rider to make the top 10. It was a good day for the Scots, Ben Cathro and Ruaridh Cunningham both sneaked into the top 20 with 18th and 19th respectively, Cathro did particularly well with fastest at the first split though a crash further down put him down the order, top 10 tomorrow Ben? Podium?. Joe Barnes took 33rd, Fergus Lamb 35th and “Wee” Lew Buchanan coming off his storming result at the Inners IXS Cup race with a 43rd in only the 2nd race of his first work cup season! Not only that but Lew was top Junior, some 3 seconds up on Kiwi George Brannigan in 54th.
Sam Hill only had to start today to ensure his place in the final, as all Top 20 riders in the overall points chase are automatically qualified direct to the final. He took advantage of this today and therefore finger crossed he is up to racing the final tomorrow.

He crashed yesterday and just rolled off the start today. He qualifys automatically (top 20 riders all do)…he just has to start his qualify run.
