Fort William WC – Milways Pit Friday!
As the years pass, the history of this venue starts to build and build. The first riding of the track back in the era of foot and mouth, Kovarik’s devastation, The Worlds and Bryceland’s puncture…the memories will hopefully continue this weekend too.
First off- the weather. A great British conversation and interest so the update is…Sunny! Warm and sunny on the drive up, warm and sunny in the pits. The forecast doesn’t look perfect but dry and dusty here now. Enjoying it in my flip flops whilst it lasts.
The pits are still quiet and practice is a very chilled affair- all day and not much rushing around from the feel of it. The teams are all set up but some of the trade stands are still unpacking. Not much change in look except for the biggest mother of all TV screens dominating the finish line area.
Timed practice has just finished with Steve Smith fastest- 4.46.86m, 2nd Marc Beaumont 4.46.88m and 3rd Julien Camellini 4.48.06m Marc was not happy at commissaires for them stopping him have another run, but these times don’t mean much- who cares who wins practice?
4x qualifying is about to start so off out there now, but for now some snaps from the pits…

New 225 pimped - always helps if you are in charge of painting the bikes at Orange. FYI the factory was burgled this week- proper cutting telephone cables job and having a full run of the place. The problem? The idiots only stole the cheap G3's and nothing else before getting spooked it seems.. Clearly wasn't an inside job then!!
Danny Hart is a professional athlete. Alas he is from the North East and therefore is used to looking like trailer trash to pull the girls! Nice Mullet!

The Carbon GT - Here before Santa Cruz started playing with plastic. In the background Marc and Danny head off to warm down.

Rachel Atherton has still got a bad paw so this effort is to help her be comfortable on the bars. Surely there is a more high tech solution??!
Jess Stone on her new team- and hopefully on her own bike at last. She has been using a bike borrowed from good friend Tracy Moseley until these arrived...

Would you believe these three little holes on the shock linkage makes that much difference? Believe me Dave Garland is a happy man this year.

Sam Hills bike - short and steep in anyones book?? A long way from the old trend of laid back... watch the trends change because of this.
