Hanger Banger?
It took me a while to realise that spare rear drop-outs and mech hangers are a necessity in everyone’s toolbox. A couple of years ago I ripped a caliper mount off a frame, being in France at the time and with no way of getting a spare anywhere near me, I had to resort to a borrowed bike…not something I wanted but I learnt a valuable lesson that trip.
So why am I whittling on about mech hangers for? Well almost the same thing happened to me last week, out on the bike miles from home and the rear gear change was a bit ropey, then ping! Rear mech in spokes and one bent hanger/frame.
Again I didn’t have a spare but after nursing the bike home and after I’d looked on-line for spares for my type of bike…of course none found but a quick surf over to BETDs website and all was in order. BETDs website has a hell of a lot of mech hangers for virtually every bike…including mine…I needed a number 58.
Next day a couple of hangers, complete with hardware arrived in the post…super quick service, considering I ordered late afternoon!
The BETD hanger is a far superior piece of kit, the original hanger is on the right, it’s a cast alloy version, compared with the BETD machined hanger….it’s way inferior.
So if you’re finding that you have a bent rear drop out/hanger give BETDs website a browse and see if they can sort you out now with a spare one before it’s too late!

I agree BETD are a great company and their hangers are top quality CNC machined alloy ones. The other products they sell like linkage and rocker plate upgrades are also superb quality. To top it all of their passionate bikers and a cool bunch of people.

They’re designed to break….if they get a knock hard enough in order safe the frame.
