KaTec Bikes – Custom Bearing Kits

How many times have you removed you rear shock, only to feel your rear end grind and move? That basically means your bearings are goosed.

So what do you do, you head straight to the internet to search for a replacement bearing kit…but you can’t find any decent ones, you then try the local bike shop, none! They then try the distributor, none! Your bike is now bearing-less and you can’t get a set for love nor money…but now you can.

KaTec Bikes are a not so new outfit based in Edinburgh, over the past few years they’ve been searching for the ultimate bearings, then with a few secret tweaks they’re customising them to last for ages…up to five years they reckon. Their skills have been developed by buying up frames and refurbishing them, you know the one you sold because the bearings where goosed, that one that went for £50 on eBay…yeah, that was refurnished and re-bearing’d and sold on after a custom respray…of course KaTec spray frames as well!!

So what about the kits?

Well have a look below, you’ll see that all sorts of frames have kits available, from Intense M6′s right through to old school Kona Stab’s!! We have a few sets to give away to readers soon, more details will follow next week.

KaTec are using the likes of quality SKF bearings, rare sizes took an age to source but KaTec got all the sizes required as well as any necessary nylon washers etc., and with new kits coming out all the time you should be able to source one for your frame soon.

Right now KaTec are about to produce a unique bearing extractor tool which will make the bearing change even easier…so keep an eye out for that.
